Bill Bradshaw, thank you for those early days 1973 to 1979, you were my maths teacher, basketball coach & head principal. You went out your way to pick up the whole team & take us to Coburg stadium. Playing the came was only part of it, 10 young basketball's in the one Kombi van was entertaining on the way home, stopping off at the same fish and chip, sharing our laughter with Bill, he loved just as much as us.Lots of life skills learning with Bill thank you again Mark Bevilacqua & Stephen Bevilacqua (dec 1993)ms.beva@bigpond.com

I miss those days going to school. It was only new. Just being made.. It was a hard time in Australia for some.. Bills door was always open.. If you needed to talk.. Always had time for you as a kid.. I will never forget... He was there when no one was.. He helped me as well with basketball. Played at Eltham.. Trained with him at school... Made a Victoria team.. Then tried out for the big leagues.. One game only.. But it was bill that was all ready there to help... If you needed it.. A great man and a great ambassador.. You will always be in my thoughts...

I am saddened at the loss of a great man who had a keen interest in bringing out the best in the students he taught. I played and coached basket ball at all levels thanks to his infectious love of the game. My sons achieved rep ball level and have coached as well. Bill was a teaching mate and friend of my fathers (Ray Whittaker) he sends his condolences to the family. I was school captain and Head prefect at A.N.T.S. and a member of the school basketball team. Thank you Bill you have enriched my life, may you rest in peace, job well done.

To hear that Bill has passed away saddens me greatly. At 81, too young to go. My first memory of Bill dated from the middle 1960s. He encouraged and advised me as a young student teacher in setting up the Christ Church Basketball Club in St.Kilda. He was my role model in those early days when he set up a basketball association at Altona North Tech School, and fielded rep teams in the old VJABC competition; teams that played a fearsome full court zone. In the late 1980s he helped me at St.Kilda Police Boys then in recent times helped set up the now flourishing Port Phillip Association. In my view, while respected by all, Bill did his best work introducing government school kids to basketball, as well as soccer and his coaching and encouragement led so many to state honours. I will always remember Bill as a dedicated man who extended his professionalism as a teacher from the school scene to the wider community. And as a talented and innovative coach at the highest junior levels. In the basketball community Bill leaves behind so many great people who owe their involvement to his encouragement. Goodbye Bill.

The admiration I have for Bill is difficult to put into words.

To hear him talk of Finn always brought a smile to my face, seeing the look of joy and pride spread across his face. And seeing the same expressed on Finn when his Dad's mentioned is always an honour to see such a tight bond between father and son.

Visiting Bill and Delia before games with Finn always felt like catching up with family.

He had the air of a man who knew exactly who he was and assured of his purpose in life, I admire and hope to achieve the same lofty feat some day.

Bill was my coach, my bestfriends father, and most importantly, my friend.

Bill, what a lovely resonance you have created in this world, with your fierce sense of justice, the way you could sparkle with creativity and clown in the same minute, your loving appreciation of other people's contributions, and your entertainment at human folly. You brightened everything you touched. Thank you Bill. Much love Roly.

Bill was a pioneer in so many community areas and a crusader for the those with less resources. He developed the game of basketball he loved in ways which reconciled groups in the community and brought vitality to the life of so many young people.

What a great mix Bill was.
A man of compassion and fire, intellect and humility.
I,ve always believed that the true mark of a person is that they are remembered with fondness and that those who associated with them were made richer for the experience.
That how it was with Bill.
So sad that he has gone. John McCall

Dear Delia and Finn,
I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sure Bill will be remembered fondly by both students and staff who where lucky enough attend Diamond CreekTech back in the 70's.
His compassionate and visionary view of education has left an indelible stamp on students and staff alike and also on the broader ''Eltham Community"
I've still got my bus licence that I gained at Diamond Creek Tech! Thanks for the great experiences and memories Bill.
RIP.

Yes - can't agree more - Bill was such a great bloke and generous friend and colleague. I was very privileged to job-share a statewide maths/numeracy position with Bill for a few years and that was the start of a great and constructive relationship that led into a friendship including through basketball for many years after that. His wisdom, humour and insights were much valued and enjoyed. Our deepest condolences to Delia, Finn and family.
