Talis was enigmatic and mysterious when I was Marys friend in Primary - he drove exotic cars and said hmmm a lot with an impossible sense of wisdom. Later I realised he was warm and kind - a man who knew all about Marys friends because he was so proud of his daughter who he loved deeply. To my friend Mary - I am so sorry your Dad has gone. He will be remembered. Xx

A wonderful part of our Carlton, always fun with great stories and a canny tennis player. Good friend of the late Fred Balfour.

Vale, dear friend and respected colleague. I shall never forget your dry wit, dreadful riddles and ever-wise counsel.

Dear Talis.. we meant to say "good" times together... instead it amazingly turned into "Food" times together: ! it is however so true our good times often happened over food times together......you are most truly missed. au revoir.

What a lovely neighbour Talis was! We used to see him going off for his weekly tennis matches and were impressed by his fitness. We'd often chat in passing. We'll miss seeing him in our neighbourhood. Best wishes to his family. Fondly remembered.

Sincere condolences to the family of Talis Polis. I worked with him at La Trobe University for a number of years and considered him a dear friend and colleague, even if we lost touch in recent years. He was kind, generous, always professional - and had a great sense of humour. Vale Talis.
