Ailsa was the our local book club stalwart. she shared her deep passion fo literature and enquiry in her inimitable quiet, yet piercingly insightful way. Her generosity and grace will always stay with us. Also, her lovingly tended Wisteria sculpted on the wall remains a daily inspiration in the neighbourhood.

As a member of the Yarra Valley U3A, I attended Ailsa's "Mixed Bag of Literature" classes from 2008 until 2012. They covered a wonderful selection of fiction, poetry and plays. Some of her favourite authors were new to me; others were more familiar. My life has certainly been enriched by Ailsa's knowledge and love of literature, and I will always have fond memories of her classes

The passing of Ailsa is a loss to the world. Such a wise, sensitive and generous woman. We were privileged to be part of her life for over 40 years, sharing the joys and tribulations of teaching, singing, dealing with separation, raising children and generally celebrating life. Our condolences to Cath, Mike and Lyndal.

I have missed Ailsa from my life in recent times but have many cherished memories of the times we spent together over 25 years. We met in Living Song, a community acapella group and shared a love of music and literature and a common interest in mental health awareness over lunches in Ivanhoe. She was a gentle and caring listener and a loyal friend. Ruth

Cath and family, my sincere condolences. Ailsa was a wonderful mentor and loyal, supportive friend over decades. She taught me things I have never forgotten, about teaching and about living well with integrity. I will miss her enormously.
