I had the joy and privilege to meet Caroline when I was working as the CEO at SANE Australia - such a beautiful and caring soul. We featured Caroline in our anniversary booklet with a beautiful joyous photo of Caroline with head thrown back in a joyous laugh holding her money jar which she would donate to SANE each year. Then when I was the CEO at Philanthropy Australia I was moved to show that photo again in my opening address to our 2022 National Conference along with the following words: After Id been offered the job with Philanthropy Australia and was about to leave SANE, I was asked what farewell gift I would like. I wanted something that would capture the transition. I asked for this photo of Caroline Storm which, for me, captures the joy of philanthropy.Caroline lost her daughter Ann in tragic circumstances through mental illness and was given enormous support at the time by SANEs then CEO Barbara Hocking. In 2016, Caroline rang the SANE office and asked if we could come and collect a jar of coins which she had saved up and wanted to donate. Philanthropy brings with it a joy no matter the size of the gift. I'm sorry the late notice of this message as I have only just learned of Caroline's passing. I'm currently in Kathmandu and will do special prayers for Caroline and our Buddhist centre in Tilba Tilba will recite daily prayers up to the 49th day of her passing.
