Martin Powley — 1 September 2026

My condolences to everyone in Johns family and his many friends. I remember him when I was very young and he used to visit grandma and grandpas place at Auchenuflower driving a Volkswagen sedan. I think it was the first one I ever saw. John was always a fascinating man to talk to, especially if you like politics. It was very enjoyable hosting John and my mother Shirley when they flew to Century Mine in Queenslands Gulf Country several years ago, also attending the Gregory Downs races; a real man of the bush. John was interested in everyone and everything. He will be remembered fondly.
