Robin, know your courage as you face your loss albeit braced by being glad for what Rogers love brought to you. I knew Roger best when he helped me survive a year at boarding school in 1957. We took long walks along the Barwon and Moorabool rivers and disused rail lines to Red Hill and Mornington near his family home. Then, he had understandings and tastes that were more adult than mine, e.g. republicanism, urban transport, ABC news, the Goon Show. Though later we both spent decades teaching at different universities in different fields, our meetings were brief and we never again shared what drew us to each other in schooldays. I regret that!
