Dr. Prabhudas Dolasia (1927–2026)
Dr. Prabhudas Dolasia lived a life guided by a simple belief: that the purpose of life is to do good and be good.
Born in India in 1927, he overcame tremendous adversity from an early age, pursuing education through scholarship, discipline, and determination. A Gold Medalist Sanskrit scholar, gifted musician, and devoted student of learning, he ultimately chose a life of service through medicine, becoming a respected physician whose care and compassion touched countless lives in Kenya and beyond.
A man of deep faith, he began every day with prayer. His integrity, discipline, and unwavering principles earned him the respect of all who knew him. He had little patience for dishonesty or carelessness, but endless commitment to doing what was right. His presence alone inspired others to hold themselves to a higher standard.
Yet beneath that discipline was a joyful spirit. He possessed an unforgettable laugh that filled every room and brought laughter to those around him. He loved music, good food, family gatherings, and, in later years, could be persuaded to enjoy the sweets he once denied himself. Sunday jalebi and gathiya remained among life’s simple pleasures.
To his patients, he was Dr. Dolasia. To many others, he was simply Saib Ji. To his family, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, and example.
He shared an extraordinary 76-year marriage with his beloved wife, Vanlata, and leaves behind a family whose lives have been profoundly shaped by his love, wisdom, faith, and example.
His legacy is not only in the lives he healed, but in the values he lived: service, humility, discipline, learning, devotion, and kindness.
May we honor his memory by striving, as he did, to do good and be good.
Om Shanti
