Jean Anne Kathleen Hereford
18th November 1947 — 9th September 2025
Much loved and devoted wife of Marshal of 56 years
Cherished mother of Ian and Christina.
Much loved mother-in-law of Judy.
Adored grandmother of Alicia, Tanisha and Cailyn.
Jean will be missed for her generous heart, loving spirit, razor-sharp intelligence and wicked sense of humour. She was a most beloved teacher and vicar’s wife, always going above and beyond for her students and members of the parish. Officially, she was a mathematics teacher. But Jean was so much more, offering wisdom, guidance and a genuine connection to so many. Jean inspired and connected thousands of people across the globe, using her Facebook as a platform to post poems, recipes, songs, and selfies. Founding an Anglo Indian group with more than 30,000 members, her granddaughters would often refer to her as “Facebook famous”. Jean was often recognised by her “groupies” wherever she went, even at the hospital during her final stay. She was an avid cook, creating and posting countless delicious recipes for all to enjoy. Jean loved nature, capturing and sharing beautiful photographs of flowers, sunsets and her hometown of Nilgiris.
Most importantly, though, Jean was an inspirational wife, mother and grandmother; a rock to her family and collection of honorary family. She gave of herself in every way, through her cooking, wisdom, cuddles and endless love.
We will forever cherish the lessons she taught us, the warmth of her smile, and the comfort of her presence.
Join us to honour the memories and celebrate the life of Jean Hereford. The funeral service will be held at the Anglican Church of the Ascension.
